Whether you are a DJ hobbyist or professional DJ you may often consider buying cheap DJ equipment. If you’re a beginner or DJ hobbyist this is probably the best way to go. There are many low-cost options for people who like remixing music as a hobby. The steeper systems often lack many of the higher grade inputs and outputs that are found in more expensive DJ equipment. If you’re just remixing tracks at home using your computer or home system then you will have no need for XLR connectors and such.

There are many different all-in-one units that have a built-in mixing board as well as a turntable and built in effects. Some of these units have two turntables for dual mixing effects. These are great if you are into battle DJing. That is the DJing that involves scratching with more than one turntable. These small all-in-one DJ systems are easy to set up and are often plug-and-play. This means all you need to do to set them up is simply put them into your computer. This is easily done through the use of a USB cable.

Having a small system that you can easily hook to your computer gives you the advantage of controlling and mixing your music through your PC or Mac. This is especially great if you have a large library of music and loop tracks already on your computer’s hard drive. Mixing music in this way using low-cost units up to your computer means that oftentimes the quality of the music is only as good as your computer’s processor will allow. This means that if you have a computer with a powerful processor then you’re more likely to get better sounding mixes using these cheaper DJ mixing consoles.

While you won’t want to try professional DJ and club with these small low-cost systems, they are great for hosting small parties and events. There are some very affordable units that you can purchase for under $100. Keep in mind that for a little more money you can get a much better sounding unit with more responsive controls and better software. Though if you are a beginner or hobbyist these cheaper units will probably be enough to satisfy your curiosity and let you have some mixing fun.

Many of these cheaper DJ mixing setups are basically toys that are good for practicing and playing around with. Surprisingly enough some of these cheaper systems are actually capable of producing decent quality tracks. You can get CD-quality mixes and sounds from these cheaper systems. What you will lack though with these cheaper DJ mixing all-in-one consoles is lower quality control interfaces that are much less responsive than the ones found in more expensive turntables and mixers. This means it can be a challenge to create great sounding mixes using the systems.
